Unveiling M.F. Husain: A Restless Artist Rooted in India

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) is celebrating M.F. Husain, a famous Indian artist, with a cool exhibition called “The Rooted Nomad.” This special show is happening in Venice, Italy, and it fits right in with the Venice Biennale’s theme of “Foreigners Everywhere”.

From Simple Beginnings to a Star

Born in 1915, Husain’s artistic adventure started in Indore, where he grew up with his grandpa after his mom passed away. The rich culture of the city had a big impact on his art. Even though he never went to art school, Husain became a talented artist, inspired by calligraphy and the busy streets of Bombay (now Mumbai).

His art became a unique mix of modern Western styles and Indian themes, making him famous all over the world. He travelled a lot, but India always inspired him. Despite facing some criticism, Husain kept creating amazing art and won many awards until his death in 2011.

A Story Through Time

The exhibition is like a story with eight parts, each showing an important time or theme in Husain’s life.
